Nice Portobello Snufftaker Toby Jug dating from about 1840. He is decorated in nice bright colours with an unusual black coat and bright crimson face. He is about 9” high and has some good detailing to the modelling with elaborate grape & vine decoration to his handle & base.

Early 19th Century pearlware Toby Jug.        Ref:  CC306 w
At first glance this jug may not appear anything unusual. However, as you can see from the picture, his handle is in the shape of a pipe.
The handle does have an old Victorian pinned repair, but I have never seen another toby with this type of handle.
